Take a deep breath!
This is a tip of the week. My goal is to help you make small changes to help you to improve your health and wellness.
Stress is not unusual or abnormal. It’s an everyday occurrence that your body reacts to in either a positive or negative manner as it adjusts to ever-changing circumstances.
Breathing is an easy to learn stress relief technique that’s fast, simple and free. It can be done anywhere, anytime and has numerous positive effects on your health such as reducing high blood pressure.
Try taking two very deep breaths right now!
“Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts. Whenever your mind becomes scattered, use your breath as the means to take hold of your mind again.” ― Thich Nhat Hanh, The Miracle of Mindfulness: An Introduction to the Practice of Meditation
Here’s how basic controlled breathing works:
- Sit or stand in a relaxed position.
- Slowly inhale through your nose. Fill up your lungs with fresh air and let your abdomen expand outward, rather than raising your shoulders.
- Exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat.
Try to take a few minutes everyday to place your focus on your breath.
To your health and happiness
